My classes this semester are ridiculous. I guess I say something to that effect every semester, and maybe it’s true every semester. But somehow I get the feeling that this is going to be more than just first-of-the-semester shock. I’ve got two classes that require a specific mental “zone” of sorts: Spanish and Programming. Of course, they’re not so difficult, really. Both require plenty of time-dedication. The problem is when I have two big assignments due at the same time, and I have to choose which mental state to be in.
I wonder if the programming syntax is different in Spanish-speaking countries. Surely they change it a little to go along with the Spanish equivalent of words like “integer” and “void” and “while”. Someday I’ll learn to program in Spanish. That will be the day.
So right now I should be writing this simple little quicksort algorithm, and it should be ridiculously easy, but I’m so far from the programming zone. Also, Lander keeps deleting the files from my system, and I can’t save anything on my Jurassic Jump drive, because it’s too big to fit into these front-loading Dells.
I did, however, buy a new Precise V5 blue ink pen today, to replace the one I lost last week. This has lifted my spirits significantly, as the loss of my favorite pen has had me depressed all weekend. Amy got the remaining red and black pens in the set. I don’t need them. Just the blue one.
So instead of programming right now, I’m doodling with my new ink pen, browsing around ThinkGeek wishing I could buy one of these, and listening to people argue about Heavy Metal bands and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Mmm. Biometric.
It’s always the same, you’re jumping someone else’s train..

When I decided to embrace the idea of spending money for space on the world wide web and to buy my own domain name and hosting (as opposed to the years I’d spent mooching off of Geocities and other such free webhosts), I chose the name “Amandy.net” for many reasons. The Amandy part was pretty simple: it’s a nickname given to me by some of my favorite little people in the world. The dot-net part was even easier — the dot-com was already taken. At the time, while Amandy.com had already been purchased, it was one of those “website-coming-soon” kinda deals, and I assumed it was just a domain name that some company snatched up before all the dot-coms were gone.
Now, however, I want you all to take note that Amandy.com is up and running. See for yourselves what you think of it. Go on, take a look. I won’t be offended if you like their site better than mine. After all, I can’t offer you skincare unparallel in quality. I certainly don’t have stellar rave reviews at the top of my website. And if you were to develop razor burn, I wouldn’t do a thing to help you, and in fact would prefer not to even know about your razor burn.
I know that by posting this, I’m going to lose some of my loyal visitors to this Amandy.com. It’s inevitable really, and I hate to see you all go, but I’d rather you all hear about this website from me, before word gets around. Just remember: I may not be able to do anything about your razor burn, but I do the best I can with what I’ve got. I’m resourceful, and that’s something to be respected.
Stick with Amandy.net and you won’t be disappointed.
Just get out of this town… this town, any town..

Dr Chaz’s Homework:
“Two blue armies are each poised on opposite hills preparing to attack a single red army in the valley. The red army can defeat either of the blue armies seperately but will fail to defeat both blue armies if they attack simultaneously. The blue armies communicate via an unreliable communications system (a foot soldier). The commander with one of the blue armies would like to attack at noon. His problem is this: If he sends a message to the other blue army, ordering the attack, he cannot be sure it will get through. He could ask for acknowledgement, but that might not get through. Is there a protocol that the two blue armies can use to avoid defeat?”
This is merely one of the many problems assigned for Tuesday. Answers must be in full grammatical sentences, with explanations of how each answer was arrived at. I don’t know whether to absolutely love this or despise it. I wonder if this is one of those problems I can solve by drawing little diagrams of the armies. Hm…

I’ve been itching to blog about the Springdales photos Amy and I took after Christmas, but was so ashamed of my dysfunctional blog that I just couldn’t. Now, however, the site is running smoothly, and I’m eager to show off these photos (as well as my Flickr page, because I love Flickr). This is my favorite of the photos, and Sarah did a wonderful job with this one (and the rest) in Photoshop. Sarah also has a new blog, if you’ve been missing her old one and haven’t stumbled across this one yet.
That does it for this post, then.
here you have it
